Hello everyone! Today’s post is going to be something different from even my old blog’s content. This is probably my first site feature but as I comb through old Creatures sites I’ve been finding some real gems that I think would be wrong to forget! The community might be centralized a bit now, but let’s not forget where it came from!
Today, I’m talking about Muppetboy’s Geatville.
While the site is admittedly a bit dated in its style and focuses primarily on the first game, it’s still a wonderful source of information! Browsing through the menu at the top you can see that it’s got a ton of segments and most (if not all) of the pages are up and in working order. This blogger didn’t have the time to peruse each and every download. 😉
Perhaps most useful to C1 developers are the Info, CAOS and Genetics sections.
These offer a wealth of informaiton including everything from game file naming conventions, how fertility cycles work, theories and explanations behind norn Behaviors, CAOS tutorials and even a rundown of all the common mutant genes in Creatures 1.
It’s worth a look since even players who don’t develop for the game can still find useful information about common glitches and information about their norns that could help them communicate with and better care for them.
For example, my favorite sub segment is “Weird Albia” under the information tab. It talks about glitches that I haven’t seen in any of my worlds yet. Often the game starts having problems before I ever get to that point and I need to start over anew. The only one I remember experiencing is the Run Away Cart. 😉
In the next group of menus you’ll find all sorts of downloads including Patches, cobs, creatures, official programs, documentation and full worlds for download.
The most important and perhaps impressive section of the site for me, however is the Links section. Be wary of any links that are titled reocities, however! Consider using oocities instead as the sites aren’t tagged as attack sites by my browser and Oocities doesn’t make a large plea for bitcoins at the top of the page. To check a link’s destination, simply hover over it with your cursor if on a computer and your browser will usually show you the destination at the bottom of the window. On a mobile device, long press til a menu pops up and read the url that way.
Inside this space you’ll find a wealth of old pages full of downloads, stories and creatures and each will also show you a bit of what each host was like. I’d recommend giving it a look! You might find something you need or you might just learn something about what the community used to be like.
And that’s all for my feature! I hope you liked this. It’s much different than what I’m used to writing but if you’d like to see more articles like this, let me know. Additionally, if you’d like to recommend a page for me to feature (even your own!) please let me know.
This is probably the silliest question of all time, but what is a good URL to find Muppetboy’s Geatville? I know of some archives, and it seems like you found the best one. I remember going through the site in a lot of detail at one point. It’s full of interesting information! I think one of the sections that really caught my attention involves a description of the Yin Yang Norns and the fact that they have a much more realistic immune system. It’s always fun going back to these old sites! Many look dated (and I’ve seen some that scream 90s styling) yet the amount of information is still amazing. Thanks for sharing this!
Whoops! I completely forgot to add the link! Here it is.

Hope that helps. Glad to see you commenting so much! 😀
Thanks! I was thinking that was the best one, but it’s good to know for sure. You’re glad for the comments now… Pretty soon you’ll be wondering how to quiet down the over enthusiasm and excitement that is me. Prepare for an overload of exclamation points!
Thanks for the review. it’s at geatville.uk nowadays.
I use adblocker or I would have noticed the difference between reocities & oocities!
Updated, thanks for the heads up. 🙂
