Oh dear. It seems that when Exodus bugged up and crashed my computer some things got… Corrupted. Sadly, this means that I’ll have to start over the old world I was working on with my trade creatures.

That said, I still have backups of them all as babies, so it’s not exactly the end of the (game) world.

I’ll not be investigating the rest of their genetics because I’m actually a little winded but I wanted to make sure you all had some sort of update anyway. Anyway!

bandicam 2014-11-21 11-11-25-535Here are the little ones! I’d like to get caught up a bit so I’ve instantly taught them their vocabulary using “enum 4 0 0 vocb next”. No, I didn’t even have the patience to look for a vocabulary infusing agent, heh. Anyway, to get them all caught up to each other, I injected Norn Statistics and made a note of their ages.

With Percy at 20 minutes old, he was the oldest. Susan, at 3, was easily the youngest so I decided to take some time to raise her til she was about 5 minutes old, the same age as the next girl in the line. I repeated this process until all of the babies had reached about the same age. The wait for the girls to reach the same age as the boys was a bit longer, but I thought it would be worth it for them all to be about the same age, rather than spread out as they were.

To give myself an extra challenge, I was playing with an agent that may or may not be released as of posting this. I’ll not spoil the surprise but suffice it to say that moving individuals was much less convenient now.

bandicam 2014-11-21 22-12-39-057Once the little nornlings were all in place, I could relax a little and let them live normally.William did give me a little bit of a scare when he started marching towards the lake, but once he’d investigated the nest and satisfied his curiosity, he headed left again to join the others.

He seemed to insist on hanging around the lake but, just like before, the warm shores didn’t seem to heat up this poor, cold little guy. Maybe something could be done to make him more comfortable?

Geoffrey

Let’s get back to work, shall we? This is Geoffrey, William’s brother. He has a lot of genes in common so this analysis should go pretty smoothly!

Receptors

For starters, he doesn’t have the progesterone receptor gene that William has but he does have some of the other genes. For example, stress isn’t an issue for him so far as certain drives are concerned. And on top of that, Loneliness isn’t treated the way it usually is in his brain, so he shouldn’t feel lonely.

Reactions

Like his brother William, Geoffrey will come out of a painful experience feeling hungry for protein. Quite a peculiar mutation, but I’d rather they feel hungry and nourish themselves after being harmed. If nothing else, this might encourage a better recovery.

Stimuli

Again, like his brother, his daughters could be in luck and experience painless, effortless egg laying. They still wouldn’t get the same hit to homesickness, but they’d be otherwise comfortable.

Instincts

Beside that, many of his instincts are also dormant. For example, he has the instinct to hit pests when angry, but because it’s dormant, he wouldn’t seek out to do this. He has a dormant instinct to run from grendels when scared, a dormant instinct to dispensers when hungry for fat and a handful of other genes like this.

Beside that, he’s a pretty standard norn and nothing really jumps out at me.

Really quick, here’s a quick follow up to Bihia. She loves pushing dispensers.

Byotobyo

1byotobyoByotobyo isn’t much of a zombie. She lies still but is still very much alive, she can even die when left alone too long! She’s more like a coma patient and it seems she can die when her organs fail or of starvation.

First things first, Byotobyo, unexpectedly, had a lot of her genes intact. Compared with Bihia’s meager 526 genes, Byotobyo has 804, only 22 fewer than the CFE ChiChi genome we’re comparing to. After considering the genes that she’s missing, she appears to be a normal grendel. Except that she doesn’t move. Or talk.

I did notice something very, very strange in the Poses section of the Gene Compare, though. As it turns out, 40 of her pose genes are dormant! Many of them apply to approaching, walking up and downhill, and even shivering, picking things up and wandering are dormant genes! Normally, changes to Poses and gaits can cripple a creature but here, it seems to have frozen her altogether!

As for not speaking when spoken to… I’m not sure how that worked out. I checked her stimuli and there were no changes to the hearing/speaking genes, unless there was a change in a part of her brain that I didn’t know about.
