bandicam 2014-12-01 11-07-22-635 copySick of Species? Well, I’m not, but I figure you might be sick of reading about it. So let’s go back to Albia, shall we?

When I arrived, this little egg was ready and waiting to hatch. I had to scoop it up before it had the opportunity, though! I still had to make my rounds and feed the other norns, especially Lydia who’d just given birth to this egg.

I popped it into the incubator and soon I had a new little friend.

bandicam 2014-12-01 11-12-27-107 copyAnother boy! His name is Bobby. At first, I was worried he was stuck like Gavin was but my fears were unfounded. He only took some coaxing with a ball to get moving but once he was up, he wouldn’t hold still!

I did manage to teach him all of the computer words and a few nouns before he was up and at ’em. Once he was fed, I took some time to look at his genes.

Reactions

Normally, NFP + NFP- would give 1 reward from birth. In Bobby, he doesn’t get the reward until he’s reached the Adolescent stage.

He also has a new “blank” reaction which is None+None = None+None.

With that settled, it was time to make my rounds.

bandicam 2014-12-01 12-24-12-135 copyHe spent most of his time looking around at things inside of the house’s computer room and kitchen but Opal managed to get him down with a lift. She sipped coffee and play with the ball with us.

I had to start thinking about a mate for him, though. With two fertile females and three males, the ratio was just a little off. I could hold off on adding a new female since Opal was still very young but it’s important to plan for the future.

bandicam 2014-11-20 22-44-35-924A bouncing baby – oh. Well, he might have a Ron norn head but I do like the colors he’s sporting! Beside that, he has his father’s arms! Because we have a new boy, though, I’ll be introducing a little girl soon.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, though, I needed to teach him his lessons! He learned his vocabulary very quickly and almost immediately tried the plants and weeds past the garden. Lessons quickly learned indeed!

I let him wander through the garden on his own and took a moment to make my rounds. Aidan was in the tree by the swamp, carrying a honey pot with him. When he emptied one, I took it back to the bees.

When I got there, I saw this!bandicam 2014-11-20 22-49-14-190How cute! Lydia and the grendel were becoming friends. Stinging buddies, to be more precise. As I tried to teach them that the bees were called “bad” they kept reaching up to touch them. Oh my.

Gavin smiles a lot more than his mother did at this age!bandicam 2014-11-20 22-53-46-407 His parents had to be around for Gerald’s death but this little one didn’t have so much to worry about. After a short time, I realized I hadn’t looked at his genes yet.

He has a few mutations that cause him not to turn around when they normally would. For example, bumping into a wall wouldn’t cause him to want to turn around. He also gets the Sex Drive boost when getting patted by other creatures. I’ve included all of the differences in this spoiler.

Now I only had to pick out an egg for next time. I wonder what’s in this last hatchery egg?

I might be sick with the flu and my Creatures Exodus experience might be on hold until I get some technical difficulties worked out, but as they say in showbiz, the show must go on!

bandicam 2014-11-20 13-46-07-635 copySo here goes. I’m opening up Creatures 1 for the first time in… well, in ages! I felt inspired after spending the last few days reading up on old Discover Albia entries. If you haven’t yet, try reading Jessica’s blog from the beginning, her site’s a real gem.

Since it had been so long, I decided to start the world anew. Why not, right? I picked a purple spotted egg and then this little girl popped out. I’ve named her Lydia.

bandicam 2014-11-20 13-48-30-464 copyI have to admit, I find Ron norns very… ugly. But this is what the random number god picked out for me, so I’ll stick to it. She’s a very obedient girl so far and, even though I glimpsed a few sad faces, they were quickly sorted when I encouraged her to push food. She learned a lot of the words she needed to start life and that made early communication very easy. So far, she seems to want to stay in the garden, so while she relaxes, let’s take a peek at her genetics.

Rather than go into full detail (cold medicine is getting the better of me), I’ll some up the most interesting changes for you.

Compared with her father genome (dad4 from my updated C1 genetics.) she starts with two more Antibody 1, which means she should be slightly better prepared for an attack from Antigen 1.

When she is patted by another creature, instead of Crowdedness increasing, SexDrive increases. This could make her a very active mother.

Finally, instead of “I am approaching” causing Loneliness to decrease and crowdedness to increase, “I am retreating” causes those changes.

There is another stimuli that I haven’t yet addressed because I’m not sure what to make of it. In the meantime, here’s the list of differences from dad4.

bandicam 2014-11-20 14-18-12-185Anyway, back to learning about our new little one. It took her a long time to finally do it the first time, but I eventually got her to sleep by telling her to look at herself and saying “sleep”. It’s something I hadn’t tried before but once she finally had fallen asleep, I was able to pat her. Poor thing was so tired, she was frowning. In fact, she frowned a lot. Her life force was at a comforting 76% and she was nearly 20 minutes old so I decided it was time to introduce a male. We’ll get to meet him next time.

Geoffrey

engine 2014-11-11 19-09-21-638 copy

Let’s get back to work, shall we? This is Geoffrey, William’s brother. He has a lot of genes in common so this analysis should go pretty smoothly!

Receptors

For starters, he doesn’t have the progesterone receptor gene that William has but he does have some of the other genes. For example, stress isn’t an issue for him so far as certain drives are concerned. And on top of that, Loneliness isn’t treated the way it usually is in his brain, so he shouldn’t feel lonely.

Reactions

Like his brother William, Geoffrey will come out of a painful experience feeling hungry for protein. Quite a peculiar mutation, but I’d rather they feel hungry and nourish themselves after being harmed. If nothing else, this might encourage a better recovery.

Stimuli

Again, like his brother, his daughters could be in luck and experience painless, effortless egg laying. They still wouldn’t get the same hit to homesickness, but they’d be otherwise comfortable.

Instincts

Beside that, many of his instincts are also dormant. For example, he has the instinct to hit pests when angry, but because it’s dormant, he wouldn’t seek out to do this. He has a dormant instinct to run from grendels when scared, a dormant instinct to dispensers when hungry for fat and a handful of other genes like this.

Beside that, he’s a pretty standard norn and nothing really jumps out at me.
