Oh No

bandicam 2015-01-08 15-45-28-903 copyEventually, it had to happen. Someone other than Lydia had to get sick. This time, it’s poor Bobby. Luckily, his illness seems to be less serious than nearly all of Lydia’s. Before he even had to eat, the illness worked its way out of his system. That said, it didn’t stop him from playing that fun “run away from what you’re holding in your hand” game that norns like to play sometimes.

I collected Cassy’s egg and before Bobby was back in good health, Opal decided to have another egg. These ladies have always moved quickly, I have to say. To save time, I opted for a CSection which, tragically, seems to have killed poor Opal! Oh no!

bandicam 2015-01-08 15-47-46-094 copyThis makes me very sad. I hadn’t expected this to go so poorly. I really only wanted to save time so that I could do the soft reset before any more norns got pregnant or sick. I’m sorry, Opal. I wish I’d known this could kill you.

Still, I had to start the world fresh so I couldn’t linger and grieve. After hatching the eggs and exporting the babies, I had 10 unnamed babies to introduce in the future. That’s a very large number. I would have to decide what to do with the little darlings but posting them for download wasn’t attractive.

That’s something to wonder for later, I suppose. For now, Opal’s death has got me down.

Big, Tight-Knit Groups

bandicam 2015-01-05 00-28-05-365 copySynergy and Dark Cat were still the only norns in the Norn Terrarium and Synergy almost seemed like she was enjoying taking a break from laying so many eggs. Besides, Andromeda was happy to become the next in line to be a successful mother. It would be a while yet til Lin, only 15 minutes old, would be ready to start breeding for the next generation.

bandicam 2015-01-05 00-30-17-205 copyThe next baby happened to be a lady, though. This is Marysia, a pretty little purple girl with a puffy tail. She seemed to get along famously with Lin and the other, older ladies didn’t seem intimidated by her. In fact, they even offered her eating advice.

Sadly, the boys weren’t getting along so well. Well. Drake and Chang weren’t.

bandicam 2015-01-05 00-33-03-822 copyI think part of their problem is that they both like the same girl. Maybe. Olga took the opportunity to get pregnant again amidst their fighting and the boys carried on slapping each other again. Oh my.

To see if it would improve things, I decided to bring everyone to the Norn Terrarium. They had about 7 minutes to spread out before I introduced the next young’un and the lake had a Mind Arrow on it to keep Norns from drowning.

bandicam 2015-01-05 00-41-46-505 copyNot a bit to my surprise, though, they all stayed in a pretty tight group, despite “dislike so and so” being repeated over and over amidst cries of admiration for other norns.

It took some time for the group to change. Rather than the norns splitting up, however, they instead broke off into two groups, with just a few wanderers.

His name always stood out for me for some reason (Tekken?) but what I really liked about him was his color. Actually, one of my favorite features about this group is just how diverse their appearances all are.

The norns slowly spread out further and things started to calm down. Drake kept slapping everyone so nobody stayed near him for too long at a time. That probably encouraged some migration.

Marysia, Daedalus and Andromeda were the most active when it came to this and the three of them competed for the medical bay elevator. It was fun to watch but eventually, I had to pull myself away.

The Final Kit!

bandicam 2015-01-08 22-45-37-628 copyVictory! I finally did it! This is actually the first time I’ve ever collected all of the power ups in this game through legitimate means. Of course, I couldn’t do it without the help of Jonathan and Clarise.

I knew sooner or later, they’d have trouble getting food in this little incubation area and i had to separate them all to feed them. Things were a lot less busy now that I’d collected the power ups so I moved on to my next goal – moving the norns to the foresty village next to the swamp.

This proved to be one of the most tedious things I’d ever done and, of course, I ended up having to use PickMeUp to do it – the norns just wouldn’t listen, especially once they’d reached the desert.

bandicam 2015-01-08 23-07-04-080 copyFinally, with everyone settled, I hatched the next egg. With some help from the incubator, I hatched Jonathan and Clarise’s first egg.

I have to say, I like his colors!

While I admired his colors Jenny and Jonathan both decided to wander into the volcano. I didn’t even have time for a picture because I was so busy trying to lure them out but when I finally got them out, they were both terribly thirsty. I delivered them some Hollow Coconuts and was ecstatic to see that no one else had tried to go into the volcano (again) yet.

Finally, An Islander Escapes!

Intrepid little guy! As soon as he arrived I had to do my best to get him to sleep, though. Oh well. At 23 minutes old, he grew up to the next stage. I watched him play with the lifts for a little while before checking on the others.

bandicam 2015-01-08 15-16-37-358 copyAs usual, there was a mob next to the wagon at the lowest level of the island. I decided to see if that would sort itself out. Lydia was by herself, snoozing and shivering next to a small pile of carrots I’d set out for her and Bobby was resting near the herbs by the temple. Even Grub made it into view at the lowest level of the temple, eating darkling carrots.

As Bobby made his way into the house and warmed himself by the fire, I wondered what it was about the island that the norns found so attractive. Eventually, I put a hootch vendor on the island, just for laughs.

I eventually led Lydia away from her nook while the other Norns all got to know each other on the island. It was starting to get old visiting this place all the time, but it’s where everyone wanted to be. Well. Except Lydia and Bobby.

bandicam 2015-01-08 15-31-43-813 copyCassy was the first to leave the island of her own volition. When she got back… well. Things could have gone better. She ate a bunch of carrots and when she met with Bobby, they had a short slapping fight. Apparently, they’d patched things up because soon she was pregnant!

In true norn fashion, she got pregnant and immediately ran for the Death Cap mushroom. Classic.

Not long after this miracle (the miracle being getting her away from the darn thing after a fight with the lifts), I saw lemons flying across the screen. Sadly, as soon as her egg is laid, it might be time for another soft reset.
