bandicam 2015-01-04 22-33-36-599 copyAt 53 minutes old, Synergy was our oldest norn, and 30 minutes ahead of Adelphos, our oldest male. This meant no babies yet, but yes, we might have babies soon.

I took a quick look around to see how everyone was doing and found that everyone was in good health. Chang was by the Empathic vendor with Olga, who wouldn’t stop kissing him. Adelphos in the meantime was relaxing by the Heater that I’d installed in the lowest level of the Meso. That extra dose of coldness didn’t do him any harm, but he was pretty uncomfortable for a little while.

bandicam 2015-01-04 22-39-17-149 copyJust a short while after making my rounds, it was time to introduce another little one. Amazing how the time just flies by, isn’t it?

This is Spike, another male who didn’t get to be a father during the live event. I do love that pretty blue shade on him, though.

By now, everyone was able to take care of themself and were even happy to offer good advice to little Spike. He didn’t often listen to it, but at least their hearts were in the right place. After some help from me and some gentle nudging from the other norns, Spike was set to go.

bandicam 2015-01-04 22-54-13-031 copyAbout 57 minutes into her life, Olga became pregnant! Good for her! The father is Adelphos, the only male old enough to be the father so far. Soon enough, an egg was waiting for us in the ocean. Then, as that egg was laid, Synergy became pregnant! Again, the father was Adelphos. He’s certainly getting a head start on things! With two eggs in our clutch, the second Generation was starting to get a foothold.

bandicam 2015-01-04 22-54-52-637 copyWith all that eggy nonsense out of the way, it was time to introduce the next baby. This time, Drake, one of the winners of the run! This little guy has the same genetics as all the others though – the updated genomes for the winners won’t be a part of this little run.

There was such a large group huddle around the elevator on the middle level of the Meso that Drake had no trouble finding food, company or advice so I let the others raise him for me. Already, he was making friends with our oldest girl, Synergy and was learning to rest like a survival champ. Hopefully, he’d have the same success here as he did in the run.

bandicam 2015-01-04 15-32-01-176 copySynergy was starting to get a better understanding of what she needed to do when she was feeling lonely and Olga was still getting some very important napping done when it was nearly time to introduce the next baby.

The two girls were very safe and started to give each other advice on how to care for themselves and I was starting to feel confident that they’d help me raise future babies. It’s always nice to have older creatures around that can help out the younger ones.

bandicam 2015-01-04 15-35-14-896 copyWhen it did finally come time to introduce the next baby, Adelphos was picked and he would be our first boy. I showed him to the girls and the three quietly ate for a while and advised each other to rest when sleepy.

It was kind of cute to see them learn from their actions but it was especially cute to see them share what they’d learned.

bandicam 2015-01-04 16-41-05-110 copyAdelphos did do a little exploring on his own, though. His first destination was the Grendel jungle and we travelled through the Offline Portals for a bit before ending up in the Meso again. While here, he ate some food that made him feel cold and I installed a heater to try to help. It did help a little, but there wasn’t much helping poor Adelphos with this problem. With any luck, it was a temporary problem caused by a little too much water.

bandicam 2015-01-04 16-50-20-019 copyOnce Adelpho’s coldness subsided, it was about time to introduce a fourth baby. Who would the game pick this time? Chang, of course.

Unfortunately, like all the other males except Flame, Chang didn’t get to be a father in the run either. You might notice he’s very much an ordinary looking Bengal except for the slightly yellow color.

By now, I was trusting the other creatures to be able to educate him and I thought I’d be able to interject with corrections only sometimes.

It was about then that I’d realized that Synergy would be old enough to breed soon and when the next baby was introduced, she’d be a full hour old! Before I could ponder for long, Chang disappeared into an Offline Portal.

bandicam 2015-01-04 16-54-12-730 copyI wouldn’t call any area of the Shee Ark especially dangerous, but if I had to pick one, I’d say the Jungle is the most dangerous. I only have one Roamer on the ship and the Jungle’s pretty bad about harboring bacteria. Chang joined the others before long, though. I guess he wasn’t feeling too confident just yet, though he did wander back into the Norn Terrarium and back into the Meso again on his own. He’s basically dipping a toe to test the waters.

Wow! Remember how badly my Random Event Run during the 2014 CCSF went? Well, if you don’t, I sure do, and I’d like to make up for it.

Rather than take these babies and run them through the competitive ropes again, I decided to take them into my world and nurture them. So, let’s see how they do when properly cared for. To make things more Creatures 1 or Creatures 2 like, I’ve decided to use Hands Off! to limit my control.

To keep things easy on me, I’ve decided to introduce each of the babies on a set interval. A new baby every 15 minutes seemed like it would give each one plenty of time to adjust without driving me absolutely insane trying to keep up.

All that said, let’s get started. I’ll be letting the game decide what order to import these little darlings in.

bandicam 2015-01-04 15-03-24-694 copyThis is Synergy. You might remember her as the longest lived female of the run. Tragically, she wasn’t a mother then and ended up drowning in the ocean after wandering into the volcano.

Rather than spend my time teaching all these little norns their words or using the HLM, I’ve opted to use a Vocabulizer to automate their word learning. That means Synergy and I can get right to lessons about what to do when tired, hungry, etc. She didn’t take long to start feeling lonely, and who could blame her, being the only creature in the world. In just 10 minutes, she would have company, though.

bandicam 2015-01-04 15-17-29-171 copyOnce I got her petting critters to help ease the loneliness, she started to feel a little better and started exploring. Being a toddler meant she still had to spend a lot of time sleeping and she spent the rest of her 15 minute alone-time napping, eating and pushing toys. I didn’t leave her alone for too long at a time and I think she started to like me.

bandicam 2015-01-04 15-19-37-626 copyOnce the 15 minutes was up, it was time to introduce someone new. Olga, one of the Run’s mothers, was imported. I lead her to Synergy and I encouraged the two to push norn. With any luck, neither of them would have to feel lonely again!

I taught her the same lessons as Synergy and before long, the two were pretty independent. I did have to remind them to rest when sleepy, but they still got on alright.

bandicam 2015-01-04 15-25-18-330 copyPoor Synergy. She didn’t seem to like travelling through the Offline Portal. She found herself alone in the Norn Terrarium and immediately came back to the Meso, where at least Olga stayed. There, Synergy reached Adolesence and I waited for the time to count down so I could add the third baby. Who would it be, I wonder?

I realized that, at least when it came to introducing new blood, Creatures 3 and Docking Station’s norn genes allow for a small window of opportunity. In Creatures 1, I can spread egg hatching out to one egg per hour without running the risk of missing out on breeding each norn with each other norn. Even the elderly females can still breed well. In this game, however, I have creatures that are Old before they’ve reached 4 hours of age – and being Old is quite a hit to their fertility.

All that considered, I’m planning on exporting Priscilla to speed things along once the other norns reach the Ancient stage and start passing away. However, that isn’t happening yet.

bandicam 2015-01-03 23-15-45-040 copyWilliam and Percy both seemed youthful as ever. If I was lucky, they’d both inherited aging genes from a Bondi or something.

Hopefully, Priscilla would get to mate with at least one of them.

Time ticked by while I waited for the inevitable. One of my biggest gripes with Creatures 3 and Docking Station is that there is just so much down time.

Once Priscilla started getting taller, however, I started encouraging her to make friendly with William and Percy. She was still a Youth but once she reached adulthood, she would be a good candidate for motherhood. I kept my fingers crossed.

bandicam 2015-01-03 23-41-30-621 copyOnce she had reached adulthood, she wasn’t able to have an egg. I checked both boys and William’s Testosterone was always depleted. As for Percy, I don’t have a clue what could have been wrong. Both boys’ Gonad organs were surviving as well. As for Priscilla, I don’t know what could have been preventing her from having an egg, especially amidst so much constant kiss-popping. Total mystery to me.

Soon enough, though, everyone had reached the Old stage and it was time to see Priscilla off. Perhaps she’d appear in one of my private wolfling runs. Oh well.

In another 1 to 3 hours, I would be seeing these norns off to Silicon Heaven.
