I exported all of the babies to move them into a new world and I’m finally back to take a look at their genes. This laptop is struggling to run the games but I can at least try to figure out who to play with next. From here out, I’m omitting pigment bleeds and changes. To make things simple, I’ve added an X to the name of every norn that isn’t eligible to be in the next round.

Maybe one of these days I’ll standardize my format. I’m still deciding what I like best. :3

Berald – Renamed to Trevor

Male

***** INSTINCTS ****
501  10   0 Ado B MutDupCut        128   0 [03: stim] [Cell 24 (Tool)] + [Brain Lobe 255] [Cell 0] + [Brain Lobe 255] [Cell 1] and [Boredom] => Cell 1 (push); unknown = 105.
Was Cell 0.

This is the instinct that tells Norns to seek out Powerups when they’re bored. In the genetics kit, there’s no visible difference. Sadly, my favorite reference site has gone offline and I can’t seem to (quickly) find the information online. As this is the only gene difference, Berald gets the green light. I don’t have Powerups in the game anyway so it’s not like this instinct matters as it is.

Balder – X

Male

***** REACTIONS ****
224  77   0 You F MutDupCut        128   0 Organ# = 12, 1*Oestrogen + 0*Progesterone => 1*Progesterone + 1*<NONE>; half-life = 0
Was 1 Progesterone.

This mutation could prevent pregnancy in his female offspring. Normally, Oestrogen is consumed by Progesterone but here, because it doesn’t require any Progesterone for the reaction to happen, Oestrogen should be converted to Progesterone, even when the lady norn is not pregnant. This is a highly detrimental gene.

349   87   0 Emb B MutDupCut        129   0 Organ# = 18, 16*Antigen 2 + 1*<NONE> => 12*Antibody 2 + 2*Coldness; half-life = 42
Was 128.

This number change only makes the gene more likely to mutate.

Battista – Later known as Peter

Male

***** RECEPTORS ****
40   49   0 Emb B MutDupCut        128   0 Organ# = 2, Current Reaction, No Tissue, Reaction Rate, chem=Cholesterol, thresh=16, nom=231, gain=229, features=Inverted Digital  (0)
Was 230.

This gene controls cholesterol in the body. Nominal above just increases the minimum amount of the chemical required by one point. Negligible.

***** REACTIONS ****
247  11   0 Emb B MutDupCut        128   0 Organ# = 14, 1*Coldness backup + 1*<NONE> => 1*Coldness + 1*<NONE>; half-life = 58

This is actually a gene that was deleted from Battista’s genome. In normal norns, Coldness backup would be converted to coldness. Because Battista’s gene has been deleted, he will never feel cold as long as any coldness is converted to backup.

Burijiito – X

Female

***** REACTIONS ****
224  77   0 You F MutDupCut        128   0 Organ# = 12, 1*Oestrogen + 0*Progesterone => 1*Progesterone + 1*<NONE>; half-life = 0
Was 1 Progesterone.

Just like Balder above, Burijiito has a gene that prevents her from getting pregnant. Progesterone is meant to prevent her from getting pregnant and it is also supposed to help female norns lay eggs. Sadly, because I don’t think she’ll be able to breed, she’s disqualified from participating in the next round.

349   87   0 Emb B MutDupCut        129   0 Organ# = 18, 16*Antigen 2 + 1*<NONE> => 12*Antibody 2 + 2*Coldness; half-life = 42
Was 128.

Just as with Balder, this gene is more likely to mutate.

Bibian – Kept her Name

Female

***** INSTINCTS ****
500  7   0 You B MutDupCut        128   0 [03: stim] [Cell 23 (Dispenser)] + [Brain Lobe 254] [Cell 0] + [Brain Lobe 255] [Cell 0] and [Hunger for fat] => Cell 1 (push); unknown = 98.
Was 99.

This instinct tells her to push dispensers when she’s hungry for fat. Sadly, I’m not sure what “unknown” at the end of the gene means.

Bidzill – X

Male

***** REACTIONS ****
224  77   0 You F MutDupCut        128   0 Organ# = 12, 1*Oestrogen + 0*Progesterone => 1*Progesterone + 1*<NONE>; half-life = 0
Was 1 Progesterone.

Oh dear. Bidzill seems to be out of the running as well with the ‘pregnancy prevention’ gene that he, Burijiito and Balder have inherited.

349  87   0 Emb B MutDupCut        129   0 Organ# = 18, 16*Antigen 2 + 1*<NONE> => 12*Antibody 2 + 2*Coldness; half-life = 42
Was 128.

The change makes this gene more likely to mutate.

So far so good. I have at least one healthy female and at least one healthy male to breed together. In the future, I’ll be checking out the remaining babies for their eligibility.

After a very long, tiring, arduous day, I could barely lift my arms to use the computer. Naturally, I decided to take this time to raise my arms to use the computer.

I have a new goal for this world to keep the generations 1, from getting too out of hand and 2, giving me a goal to look forward to instead of just playing whenever I find the time and don’t feel like playing the other two games.

This time, I’m planning on making it to generation 5. Whenever I finish out a generation, I’m only planning on getting two of the offspring, a male and a female, to play with for the next round. All the others are being sent to The Creatures Repository and Creature Caves.

This precious blue egg contains our new world’s first norn. A baby boy norn!

Once he hatched, I decided that his name should be Tanner, and I opened up his genetics.

Tanner – 2ILD

Good Bad Neutral

***** RECEPTORS *****
 46 Original Genome   3   0 Emb   B MutDupCut   Creature, Drive Levels Hunger, chem=Hunger, thresh=0, nom=0, gain=255, features=Analogue
 46 Different in File 2   3   0 Emb   B MutDupCut   Creature, Drive Levels Hunger, chem=Hunger, thresh=0, nom=0, gain=254, features=Analogue

This slight decrease in gain means that the Hunger Drive should accumulate less quickly as Hunger increases. It’s nice that he doesn’t get so hungry so quickly, but it’s still a very minor mutation. If gain were much lower or the gene were removed, I’d be concerned since it would mean he didn’t experience hunger at all.

I only classify this as neutral because the change is so minor.

***** HALF-LIVES *****
  1 Original Genome   1   0 Emb   B MutDup       WakeUpPill 255 <142> 255
  1 Different in File 2   1   0 Emb   B MutDup       WakeUpPill 251 <142> 253

This gene controls decay rates for chemicals in a creature’s body. Listed as neutral because the half-lives are so long anyway that the creature will hardly know the difference. If anything, this just gives WakeUpPill and Chemical 142 a very, very slight chance of decaying before it reacts in the body in the first place. I never use Wake Up Pills (too busy getting creatures to sleep) and 142 is unused. This also makes it pretty neutral to me.

***** PIGMENTS *****

Spoiler Inside SelectShow

Naturally, there is a whole slew of pigment mutations. Click above to see them all.

He was fed some cheese and was soon taught all I could teach him using the computer. Mom, toy and food were all learned and soon would come his life lessons. Good luck, Tanner!

UPDATE:

I have egg agents now in 3 flavors for both versions. Download them below!

—–

As I’ve never played with Gizmo norns myself (I love the CFE genome too much) I don’t fully know what to expect. I have two versions. So far, they’re all bengals.

Original Age and Reproduction Genes

Egg Agent

These guys have the original lifespan and reproduction genes. This means that they can still become super breeders.

Gizmo Age and Reproduction Genes

Egg Agent

These guys have the shorter lifespan (about 5 hours) and can’t breed til they reach adulthood.

If you test these guys out, be sure to contact me on CCaves or e-mail me at kezune_twitch@hotmail.com.

If you have a blog, you are more than welcome to post your findings there.

A quick note before I leave you to try these guys out on your own:

I’ve found that these guys are pretty hard to just leave alone to grow by themselves and that they won’t pass the IQ test without guidance. Once you’ve taught them what to eat and how to mate, they make wonderfully independent creatures.

Good luck and have fun!

More breeds to come.

Hooray! Due to my own negligence, their second egg hatched. I couldn’t pick it up since it was still growing and got distracted again.

RECEPTORS
89  15   0 Chi   B MutDupCut   Brain, Decision i/ps, Chemical 1, chem=Punishment, thresh=0, nom=0, gain=255, features=Analogue

The difference in this gene from the default is that here, the gene is effective once the creature becomes a child instead of during the embryonic stage. The gene is called “Punishment Reforct – Receptor” so my guess is that this gene controls whether Punishment creates a negative effect in the creature’s brain.

HALF-LIVES
1   1   0 Emb   B MutDup       WasteH2O 130

In the original genome, the half life of WasteH2O is 128 so here, the half-life -would- be slightly longer, except that the game will still leave the half-life at 5 hours since 130 isn’t recognized by the game.

INSTINCTS
134   4   0 Emb   B MutDupCut   Drive i/ps Boredom + (Lobe/Cell=0/0) + (Lobe/Cell=0/0) and I Push => 177*Punishment

Now, instead of being punished when he stands still, he’s punished when he either pushes something when he’s bored, or when I push him when he’s bored. I’m iffy on this one, but either way, I don’t know how I’m supposed to help him when he’s bored now.

When I was done checking on him, it was time to teach him the basics. I tended to his education and, when his father finally left him alone, I fed him some carrots and I got him to sleep. He got to sleep much more quickly than his parents did, that’s certain.

Before long, I saw that AppleJack was spending time with her little boy and, since he was a child now, I decided to introduce his sibling into the world, too.

LOBES
122 Different in File 1   7   0 Emb   B Mut          Lobe #= 8 Dendrite Type 0: Input Lobe=0, Min#=1, Max#=1, Spread=3, Fanout=2

Normally, Max is 3. I don’t know anything about Creatures brains so I don’t have much input. All I can gather is that the maximum number of connections is 1 here and that doesn’t give her brain much room to remove or create connections.

REACTIONS
73  15   0 Emb   B MutDupCut   1*Hunger– + 1*Boredom => 1*Reward + 1*<NONE>; half-life = 8.

Normally, this chemical is Hunger.  Now, Hunger Decrease and Boredom are converted to Reward. I think this means that she’ll always be hungry but she’ll never be bored. I don’t know whether she will want to eat or not since Hunger Decrease won’t actually decrease her hunger anymore. As long as she eats, she should be fine.

146  30   0 Emb   B MutDup      1*Glucose + 2*Hexokinase => 4*CO2 + 1*NFP; half-life = 24.

Normally, instead of Need For Pleasure, this is none. Now, when she is producing energy she’s not just producing CO2, she’s also producing Need for Pleasure. I’m not sure how that translates and I can’t find much information on the wiki about how to decrease Need For Pleasure.

231  40   0 Emb   B MutDupCut   2*Antigen5 + 1*Glucose => 1*Antibody5 + 1*Hotness; half-life = 88.

Normally, the half-life is 80. She gets this gene from her father. Since he didn’t get sick I don’t know whether this means she’ll recover slowly or not. If we’re lucky, she won’t get sick at all!

Once she was educated, I got her to eat some food and she decided to spend some time with her mom.
