Oh my.

I just… what?

In any case, this guy turned out to be pretty violent. Rather than interfere, however, I decided to let him pace around this pillar. He didn’t move away from it and actually seemed to be glitching on it, unable to move past it on either direction.

It didn’t take long for him to wander away long enough to beat up on poor Andorea, however. Now, the boys were separated from the girls with fig in the middle! I was pretty sure this would badly affect breeding but there were enough paths around him and I wasn’t terribly worried. Besides. Norns in this game can live upwards of 8 hours, right?

Soon, Annabella was killed by fig. As he slept, the other two ladies made it to the other side of him and started to make their way back to the garden. In Annabella’s place, Barendina was born. It was too late for the other ladies, though. As I typed, fig killed the both of them as well. With the death of them, Attilla and Belinda were born.

With the arrival of these three, I added two hardman norn eggs to the eggbank and carried on with my day.

Albuin took his last breaths as I watched videos online. I still have the sounds on so that I can hear the game but a cry wasn’t something I wanted to hear today.

Andorea was with him in the end but I don’t know what could have killed him. He was looking for the ettin home when he passed away so I can only guess that he died of hypothermia.

Annemie was the next norn to get pregnant, this time, I -think- with Ayahiko. He was the only of age male nearby anyway. The eggonicer whisked her egg away and now, there were three eggs in the eggonicer. I’m not sure where the third came from but there you have it.

I spent some time knitting and making lunch and decided to add some authenticity to the C1toDS world by adding a C1 grendel to the game.

I named him fig and placed him below the Grendel mother in the tree. Because the DS Eggonicer snatched up the Grendel egg before I could hatch it, I was forced to hatch little Buraianto here. Welcome, both of you!

I left to put my lunch in the oven and heard fig beating up on one of my norns! I came back to find that Annemie had passed away.

In her place came a new egg, however. Ashiko got pregnant and was spending time with Annemie when she died.

At least there was that. These guys seem to be dropping like flies!

Today I’m going to take a break from getting my downloads working and I’m going to set up an AFK wolfling run to go throughout the day, all on its own.

To begin with, I installed a whole lot of agents including Room Edits, Elevines and Garden Box to fix some issues with the C1toDS room I’d be using and lots of growing food.

Once I’d created a bridge across the ocean, fixed all the elevators and made CA Links, it was time to introduce the norns.

These six randomly chosen norns would be our group. Yes, they were random! I let Eggonicer choose the eggs and it decided it wanted two bruins and two magmas. As the day goes, I’ll be adding new, generation 1 norns to keep the population stable and diverse. I’ve taught them all their vocabulary using the Vocabulizer but won’t be using it to teach subsequent generations of norns.

Roughly an hour after I unleashed these little ones, I found a death notification on the hud.

Adalwin was the first to die. As I wasn’t around (doing laundry, showering, tending to my dogs, etc.) I have no idea what did him in. Eggonicer did its job and quickly replaced him with Ayahiko, another Bengal Boy.

Before long, there was a pregnancy indication! Albuin would father Andorea’s new baby. She laid her egg and the Eggonicer quickly whisked it away to deploy when another norn passed away.

Speaking of norns, I decided to hatch a new norn. I decided on a male FairyFloss norn that the autonamer named Asaichirou.

By now, Andorea and Albuin were separated from the others by the low roof of the temple. Some quick fixes with room edit fixed the problem and I was off to my day again.

If they’re lucky, Norns don’t have to deal with this terrible and inconvenient disease. Unlike me.

Speaking of Norns, though..

I have 25 bouncing baby norns waiting to come out to a new world. I haven’t made their world yet as I’ve been bedridden these last few days but I hope I can be ready for them soon.

Rather than fool around too much with a new world, I decided to start with a fresh install. A lot of agents weren’t working last round and I think this might be a change for the better. I’ll hopefully wean myself off of using quite so many agents and become a better creature raiser. Honestly, the only agents I intend to use are the following:

  • Norn Statistics
  • Medical Monitor
  • Timer
  • Selective Force Field
  • Grendel/Ettin Egg Switch
  • Population Control Options
  • Roamer (just 1)
  • Bypass Import Cloning*
  • Offline Option*
  • Creature Nametags*
  • Creature History Update*
  • Required Breeds and Genomes

Quite a short list compared to last time. The ones with the asterisks won’t actually affect gameplay. Another note, I’m not using any third-party game fixes either.

Anyway. It was time to set up my ecology again.

This time, I didn’t want to play with third party plants. That means no Square Roots, Dynamic Blooming Flowers, Garden Box or Magic Beans. A few of the agents I downloaded were specifically to keep some of the ecology alive.

After some serious trouble getting the game started, I was off. I set up my timer rig to keep the Gnarlers fed, threw a balloon bug into the norn terrarium to keep the trout and kingfisher fed and cleaned up all the gadgets that weren’t in the medical bay. I also made sure to add some bramboo and tendril seeds to the desert.

Now it was time to check out the plants that came in the breed packs. I passed on popping pappus and awkwood creeper this time. The awkwood always drew creatures into the jungle where they were bound to get sick and I didn’t need all my creatures sneezing on each other thanks to the popping pappus. Ultimately, I didn’t see any plants I really liked and injected some Trapdoor Slinkers instead. Toys always seemed to be in short order after all and with 25 bouncing baby norns to look after, it’ll be hard to keep them entertained on my own.

With the new world established, I closed the game and set it aside til I was really ready to go.
