bandicam 2014-07-28 23-01-43-158 copyBefore we got started, I lined up all the offspring to get a good look at all the colors. Stunning!

After going AFK for a while and working on other things, I returned to find that only two of the creatures failed the test. Amazing!

This meant I had to narrow down the selection a bit. I could pick from the remaining geats randomly but because I had a pretty good spread of boys and girls, I decided that I should pick two boys and two girls to send to CreatureLink and I could send the others to the DCF queue.

You will find them available for download on the CreaturesLink page.

Hi! I’d like to apologize in advance for the very repetitive post I have here. The Geat world I’ve been playing will have been played in one contiguous session and because of the quiet nature of the creatures in question, I was really only able to report on one medical concern and many, many, many pregnancies until their deaths.

Truthfully, if you only scroll through and look at the baby pictures, you won’t be missing much. Enjoy.

bandicam 2014-07-28 20-19-27-729 copyWhat a way to break in a new world. I started the game for the night and bam! Another pregnancy notification. I wasn’t prepared for the surprise I was in for, though.

bandicam 2014-07-28 20-21-45-380 copyThis time, yes it finally happened, we got a boy! Out of ten babies so far, we have nine girls and one boy! Finally!

And look at that orange! It’s starting to seem like Mom and Dad are going to have lots of babies of lots of different colors.

As the seasons changed and the food sources ‘moved’, they had another pregnancy on their hands.

bandicam 2014-07-28 20-27-54-576 copyI watched them closely to see if they would move from their perch in the top right corner but as I waited, this brown shaded baby girl was born.

Well. Looks like we’re having girls again.

I encouraged the pair to look for food elsewhere and when they travelled to the lower levels of the biodome, they managed to get separated, though not for terribly long.

bandicam 2014-07-28 20-32-40-746 copyShibuichi followed Chromel down into the caves where new food was growing.

All of the food they needed would be here in this cave for the summer. Poor Chromel, though. He was Old now and only seemed to want to rest. He lost interest in food despite only ever wanting to eat in his youth. I pleaded with him to eat seeds but had no luck. Eventually, I had to isolate him and smack him on the butt a few times to convince him that he should. He did not eat a second seed but the one ensured he would live a while longer.

Shibuichi joined us and soon convinced Chromel to eat, too. When he was feeling well again, I took the opportunity to work on a side project. Naturally, I had another baby on my hands before I could get started.

bandicam 2014-07-28 20-49-48-553 copySurprise! Another girl! Yes. Another one. With the offspring count up to 11, I had all the confidence in the world that I would have IQ-test passers to give back to CreatureLink.

She was put away with her siblings and I went back to monitoring her parents and working on my project.

Now, both parents were back to normal, eating food and pushing toys just as before. I tossed them a duck to play with and watched them wait for seeds to fall so that they could eat.

bandicam 2014-07-28 20-59-34-898 copyAs if on cue, I finished getting set up to work and then had a new pregnancy notification on my hands.

What a pleasant surprise, though! We have another boy! Things are starting to look up for this terrible gender ratio.

And what a neat pruney color. He might not actually be prune colored, but I was certainly reminded of prunes when I saw him.

Then, there was another pregnancy. It’s starting to seem like these two are only interested in eating and enjoying each other’s company.

bandicam 2014-07-28 21-09-29-785 copyChromel took some time for himself while he waited for his twelfth child to arrive. Shibuichi laid her egg by the elevator by the cave.

Out of that egg hatched… another boy! Things are definitely looking up.

Chromel still kept to himself for a little while, eating carrots as they grew and plucking seeds from above to feed his bottomless appetite for starch. Shibuichi rested nearby and the pair took a short nap together.

I hardly made it through one set of pigment genes before another egg was waiting for my attention.

bandicam 2014-07-28 21-15-51-027 copyChromel waited by eating more carrots and I decided to turn up the frequency for that patch.

I love the variety of colors I’m getting just in posting this one update. Look at them all! Now that I have some boys in the mix I feel like I’m done begruding the girls, too.

Not that they aren’t all special just that I don’t want to submit 20 girls is all. 🙂

A quick chat with one of my friends home distracted me for a while and soon, we had another pregnancy! And another!

bandicam 2014-07-28 21-48-22-049bandicam 2014-07-28 21-24-20-513 copyGoodness! I should start advertising these as ‘baby watch’ posts!

I have to say, I wasn’t expecting either of these colors from the pair! Green! Silver! How exciting.

The season shifted this time to Autumn and the safe cave they’d made home was out of food.

I escorted Chromel up to where the new food was growing, above the tree platform above the cave. They saw fit to have another child, likely because of the abundance of food. While they filled up on mushrooms, aubergines and explodonuts, I observed a little friend I’d injected for them to play with.bandicam 2014-07-28 21-54-06-003 copyHere she is. Sadly, I probably won’t be reporting on her much because she’s too busy eating Balloon Pigeons to take interest in our Geat friends. Oh well.

bandicam 2014-07-28 21-54-58-395 copyI left the ettin to her own devices and snapped a photo of yet another boy! This is more like what I’ve come to expect from this pair’s offspring.

That shade is definitely reminiscent of Chromel.

Before long, there was yet another girl! My goodness!

bandicam 2014-07-28 22-02-01-607 copyI’m starting to think such fast-breeding creatures are boring to read about!

Only kidding. I’ve thought that since these two started breeding like ettins!

I sent these two to stay with their siblings and braced myself for yet another pregnancy. From now on, I might just post pictures at the very end and not bring attention to pregnancies at all. Hah!

bandicam 2014-07-28 22-07-16-490 copyWe have another boy to add to the roster!

He looks much more like his father than the others this round.

By now I’m curious to see a blue baby come from this pair. The green baby was pretty unexpected after all. Why not see blue, too?

Sadly, I didn’t see blue with this following pregnancy.

bandicam 2014-07-28 22-13-16-321 copyInstead, we got another yellow baby. This time, another boy! I can’t cut down the population a little with the coming IQ test.

With Shibuichi and Chromel 5 hours and 5 and a half hours old respectively, it looked like breeding was finally going to slow down. They were both Ancient at this point, after all. Right?

As if to dash my hopes, they got pregnant again. As though 21 babies wasn’t enough. These two would probably be my most prolific pair in recent history.

bandicam 2014-07-28 22-19-24-976 copyAt least, I don’t remember any non-ettin creatures producing quite so many offspring!

This lady would be number 22 from our pair.

Shibuichi and Chromel stayed by the food for a long time and I thought of moving one of the food types to a different location, though I couldn’t decide where. It was nice to have different safe spots to eat, but spreading out the types of food could be a fun challenge for them as well.

bandicam 2014-07-28 22-27-05-645 copyAs I mused on this, you guessed it, another pregnancy notification appeared.

Another boy and also number 23.

I’m running out of things to say at this point!

Just as soon as I exported this little boy, Chromel passed away!

bandicam 2014-07-28 22-29-14-346 copyAnd what a busy life he lived! In youth, he spent most of his time quietly eating and then, when his lady-love was old enough to breed it was as though they decided together to keep me on my toes for the rest of their lives together.

Shibuichi lingered for a while because of the abundance of food and things seemed very “business as usual” for her. I brought the small ettin girl to her so they could keep each other company and set back to work while the two slapped and played.

bandicam 2014-07-28 22-48-51-752 copyAs Shibuichi became surrounded by more and more fruits of my labor, she seemed to become more content. She happily offered advice and stuck close to the ettins. Soon, though, she would pass away surrounded by her new friends.

I hope you enjoyed my adventure in geat egg hatching. Hahah! Next time, we’ll see who passed the IQ test.

bandicam 2014-07-11 19-56-27-224Ahh, seasonal gender bias. With 4 girls coming out of this pair so far and no boys, I was worried I’d have to send in a pretty lop-sided group of creatures to CreaturesLink when I was finished with these two. As exciting as it’s been to play with these two, I never keep offspring from my CreaturesLink worlds. No real reason, that’s just my preference. 🙂

bandicam 2014-07-11 19-58-14-278Things were pretty quiet for about a half hour but, eventually, the pair finally decided to have another baby. This time, another girl.

Meet lovely Aurum. Her yellow color reminded me of a Grendelchi I had with yellow skin. Creative, I know.

She was exported and sent to stay with her sisters for now.

Once I came to terms with the fact that I was only reporting when they were having children, I decided to have them go on an adventure!

bandicam 2014-07-12 01-08-17-786Earlier today, I set up two worlds – one for Veridia and a seasonal migration world based on the Biodome metaroom. I originally got the idea from KittyTikara for the Daily Creature Feature and it worked well but I didn’t visit the idea again for a long time. Here it is again, though.

bandicam 2014-07-12 01-10-24-729 copybandicam 2014-07-12 01-12-35-605 copyDespite having a whole new world to explore, however, they still decided to become pregnant. You can just make out Shibuichi’s camouflaged egg by her feet.

Say hello to Disfunctional Mitten, this time named by Protective Tub. This time, we had another purple baby! She was sent to join her sisters.

Meanwhile, her parents ate food and because of the way I had the metaroom set up, they would have to migrate to other parts of the room to stay fed. I really love the migratory world idea. I think I’ll be using it in future worlds. 🙂

Actually, it also eliminates the need for an IQ test. Sort of. Because the food source moves, creatures would have to follow it to survive. However, they can just sit in one spot for an entire season and eat but even if they did have offspring, the offspring would still have to move away from the incubation areas I set up. Anyway, I’ll have more on that in the future. For now, I have two happy Gaius that decided to become pregnant again.

Dead Twist is another girl!bandicam 2014-07-12 01-21-12-060 copy I really like her colors, too. Then again, I’ve always liked shades of orange and blue. She isn’t quite ‘orange’ in color but the hue is certainly there and I like the subtlety.

Oh well. She was sent to her sisters as well.

By now, I’ve given up on them having a boy. The seasons in this game feel like they last forever and I’d rather not install the “No Seasonal Gender Bias” fix by Amaikokonut.

bandicam 2014-07-12 01-36-18-224 copyAs I waited for the season to change so that these two would feel inclined to move, I snapped this picture of them napping together. How cute!

I know it’s hard to tell but yes, at the time, they were both snoring.

Before the season changed, however, another egg was starting to hatch.

bandicam 2014-07-12 01-52-10-767 copyZonked Rub is a less vibrant shade of purple than her other purple sisters but she is still very pretty!

In a way, I actually prefer her lavender color over the darker shades of her sisters. Still! I wasn’t totally sure where all this purple was coming from. I am glad to say I have a better understanding of rotation and swap after playing with ettins but still, without looking at her parents and her own genetics, there was no way to know for sure what gave them all this wonderful purple shading.

We were starting to run out of time for a another baby, let alone a boy, though. Now, at about 3 hours old each, they were starting to approach the “old” stage of life and would probably slow down their breeding. I have to say, these last two hours have been exciting! It seems I only have enough time to report on a new baby before they become pregnant with another.

bandicam 2014-07-12 01-58-54-686Still, they did become pregnant again. This time, with another orange baby!

This little lady is Assorted Idea, yet another girl from the pair. She was quickly exported to her sisters.

By now, my hopes for a boy were totally dashed. That said, I have 9 little girls to put through the IQ test before I ship the ‘smart’ ones to CreaturesLink! With any luck, they would all pass. I have to admit though, that is pretty ambitious.

bandicam 2014-07-11 00-16-06-589Oh! It’s byotiful! (Hah! Anyone? Oh. I only found that funny? OK.) Now I can have the stream running, leave a 24/7 private wolfling run AND play with my nurture worlds all at the same time. Thank you, Beth’s Creatures for this wonderful tutorial!

Anyway, let’s get back to the main event.

bandicam 2014-07-11 01-04-53-367

Shibuichi and Chromel continued to live their lazy, carefree lives and truthfully, I wanted to mix things up a little. However, as I perused a list of genetics to introduce, a pregnancy notification popped up!

bandicam 2014-07-11 01-08-13-754This is Nambe! Once she was hatched, named and photographed she was exported to join her sister.

Her parents meanwhile were getting ready for their next child, it seemed. Even though Shibuichi probably should have eaten and rested after giving birth to Nambe, she was still eager to have another egg and hounded Chromel. The poor guy only seemed to want to eat.

There was a lot of “Chromel love Shibuichi” and “Shibuichi love Chromel” and even more kissing but still no baby.

Normally, I would take advantage of the quiet to replenish food sources but the food (artificial though it was) was so abundant, I really didn’t have to do anything.

Naturally, I opted to do the next best thing – I decided to add an ettin or norn for them to befriend.

bandicam 2014-07-11 01-18-14-244After skimming through the list, I decided to add a CFG Bengal Norn. I’ve named him Joel.

Because of the lack of organic food (explodonuts and carrots aside) I had to make sure the little guy was fed manually.

I showered him with food, asked him to express and they all complained that they wanted starch. I nagged them to eat seeds and they were fine.

bandicam 2014-07-11 01-25-15-205While I’d hoped the three would become friends, it seemed like the two Geats were so enamoured with each other that they didn’t take any interest at all in the little Norn. Off to my Wolfling Run with poor Joel, then.

bandicam 2014-07-11 01-27-04-275As I packed him up for his trip, Shibuichi gave birth to another girl! This time, it’s Celestrium.

Wow! She’s a better blend of her parents, appearance-wise. Still, it was time to be exported.

I’m a bit surprised that the pair suddenly became so interested in having a family but I’m happy nonetheless. I’d only wished they’d have a boy!

Still, Chromel was only 2 hours old at this point, so there was still some time left. I hardly had time to worry before Shibuichi became pregnant again, however!

bandicam 2014-07-11 01-38-03-105Wow! Babbit is probably the last thing I’d expected to come from these two. Look at that stunning purple!

Still, she is another girl. She was exported to join her sisters while I grinned and hoped a boy would come soon.

It was time to pack them up for the night, though. Things were starting to get pretty late and goodness knows these two need a break from having so many children. More next time.

Hey, have you noticed the naming theme yet? I took a page from Jessica of Discover Albia’s book and decided to name them after alloys, just like their parents. Cute, right? Duplicates are purely accidental.
