When we left off, our not-chatty-at-all Geats had just learned to use the Elevines and were happily munching in the Norn Meso. It was about then that I decided to go overboard adding food.

First, I added a lot of life from the collection of agents that came with Gaius. The butterflies and solar flowers are easily my favorites.

bandicam 2014-07-08 18-17-51-531Then, I added The Lost Cave, fixed up the elevators and installed a Torii to make the room accessible. Then I added more of the agents from the pack that I mentioned above. It wasn’t long after I had their artificial ecology going before I suddenly got a pregnancy alert!

bandicam 2014-07-08 18-24-30-209Sadly, there were so many Botanoids in the way that I didn’t get to see the egg being laid but I did scoop it up and set it underwater in the cave. Its parents were soon to follow. It didn’t take long for Shibuichi to discover that she enjoyed pushing doors and she repeatedly pushed the Torii. I don’t know whether she was playing with the door or the teleportation was too fast for her C3/DS brain to process that she’d travelled but eventually she stopped and travelled back to the incubator plate in the Norn Meso. Time to swap for Interporters, I think.

bandicam 2014-07-08 18-37-46-800I had Shibuichi test the Interporter and it seemed to work – at least she travelled between them more slowly than with the Torii. She seemed more fascinated with playing with the Interporter than in getting pregnant again so I allowed her and Chromel to relax and eat at their leisure. I was a little disappointed that they weren’t going nuts with children, which is something I’d come to expect with my previous nurture experiences. However, these creatures were exactly teh way I liked them. They were lazy, happy and relaxed. Every once in a while they would stir from their naps and kisspop or complain about a need. Still, the relaxed pace was just what I needed.

bandicam 2014-07-08 18-40-46-354It was about when I started to enjoy the quiet that I decided to hatch their baby.

This wide eyed little one is named Alumite. Immediately after hatching she did the first thing many baby Creatures would do – she started putting food in her mouth. I quickly exported her and hoped she would have some siblings. I would love to contribute more creatures to the Creatures Link and it didn’t feel right to introduce new blood myself into the Gaius pool. I decided that any babies I kept from this union would go towards my own Gaius world in the future. Maybe.

Her parents made their way to the Norn Meso again and continued to live their lives as they had before. Fat, happy and lazy.

I know I’ve never really posted a blog entry about my CreatureLink creatures in the past but I was just so excited to get a pair of geats this time, I had to do it! Besides, I spent a significant part of my day adding tags to all of my previous blog posts and I miss having nurture worlds as a result.

Anyway, let’s get this show on the road.

With just two of them I didn’t feel any need to go any bigger than the Docking Station. If I needed more variety I’ll just add metarooms. 🙂

bandicam 2014-06-28 01-10-44-673First to our world was Chromel. He’s our reddish Gaius and he’s a little stubborn already. He refused to push the HLM for a while but he eventually learned his vocabulary

I stuck him by the Robot Toy as a reward and he immediately start napping amongst the Botanoids and Techno-Organic Carrots. Because of his genetics, Heavy Metals are of no concern for me.

bandicam 2014-06-28 01-15-14-297Shibuichi on the other hand, pushed the HLM immediately and complained about being tired. Don’t let her somewhat annoyed appearance fool you! She’s actually very level-headed.

She stayed at the bottom level of the Meso because I opted to give her a chance to rest and once she felt better, she took to eating seeds.

I moved Chromel to the bottom level as well so that they could meet and soon they were eating and advising eachother on their problems. They were pretty quiet and didn’t seem to have formed opinions of each other yet. I suppose I could ask but I wasn’t prepared for the inevitable express loops that would follow, so I opted to let it happen on its own.

I took a few minutes to re-learn Photoshop so that I could edit pictures like I used to and they kept pretty quiet. I kept a careful eye on them but they spent most of their time eating and sleeping. I did notice that they have an age gap. Shibuichi is about 22 minutes younger than Chromel! I hoped this wouldn’t cause a problem since they’re advertised to have somewhat short lifespans.

I did notice another problem, though. They can’t seem to use the lifts in the Meso. I don’t know whether it’s an issue with the lifts themselves or whether they’re just too big but I felt I had to add Elevines. Sadly, those didn’t seem to work perfectly either. Shibuichi did manage to get one to work once but poor Chromel didn’t have the same luck.

They ate and slept for a while and I did other things while I listened to them in the background.

bandicam 2014-06-28 01-33-02-230Then suddenly, Chromel got the Elevines to work. Then they were both on the top level! Neither seemed especially interested in the mechanical plants I installed for them, sadly.

Finally, Chromel became our first Adult at 56 minutes old. Soon with a little encouragement, Shibuichi and Chromel were kissing on the bottom level and eating together. They still didn’t talk much but I was pretty convinced they liked each other. I would have to find out more about them later, though.
