When I left off, everyone was roughly 2 and a half hours old and we had a good 5 eggs in storage. I’d turned on Hands Off! and was doing… something. I don’t quite remember.

A quick check up on each of the creatures would normally have been enough to get me caught up, but I felt I needed more time. To help clear up any confusion, I exported the three grendels and checked on our 5 norns.

bandicam 2015-01-03 14-15-21-575 copyFirst was Jane, who’d become pregnant with Percy’s egg just as her photo was taken.

She’s the pretty Gen 1 Astro girl that Ghost_Norn sent me for our trade. If I remember correctly, she’s also the most popular mother right now.

Between you and me, I hope she brings some much-needed variety into the next generation. 😉

bandicam 2015-01-03 14-38-52-614 copySusan is our other female. She did have a sister but, unfortunately, that sister passed away. Anyway, she’s got the Harlequin arms that I love so much and she’s got Treehugger, Magma and a Harlequin head to match those cute arms.

She hasn’t been popular amongst the boys and she’s actually isolated herself near the Shee Ark’s workshop area.

bandicam 2015-01-03 14-41-59-166 copyThen, we have the first of the three brothers, Percy. He’s taken a shine to Jane, who he impregnated at the beginning of this update.

He and his brothers all have similar genetics, so it’ll be interesting to see how they each get along with the two girls. Like his brothers, he often needs to be reminded to eat.

bandicam 2015-01-03 14-44-42-238 copyThe next brother is William, who I can’t seem to get a good picture of. He’s developed some kind of wanderlust and can’t stay put for very long at a time right now. He’s really enjoying those Offline Portals that Grendel Man made.

He’s already fathered a few eggs but nothing else seems to stand out in my memory.

bandicam 2015-01-03 14-47-03-781 copyLastly, there’s Geoffrey. He’s a lot like his brothers so it’s hard to remember anything that really stands out about him.

I do seem to remember that of the three, he has the hardest time remembering to eat and is the most stubborn when it comes time to.

And with that, Percy and Jane got pregnant again. Never let it be said that Norns are difficult to breed! Except for Susan, anyway. I’ve been trying with limited success to get her to breed. When William appeared through an offline portal, I snatched the opportunity and…! Well, I failed. Maybe next time.

bandicam 2015-01-03 13-10-51-294 copyGracious, what a picture. One of our oldest norns, Aidan, looking at the bright, young face of our youngest norn, Cassy. It’s downright charming. Actually, I wouldn’t mind this for a sticker to put on a binder or my next ipad case.

Anyway, I took the books to Grub to teach him his words. Hopefully, this would help him communicate with me and the Norns.

bandicam 2015-01-03 13-29-19-771 copyAidan and Cassy slapped and stared at each other in the garden while I tried to convince them to eat some carrots. Unfortunately, I had no luck because they were so preoccupied with each other. Bobby played with the instruments and I occasionally brought him food – I think he was in the grasp of creative inspiration. David was sad, spending a lot of his time on the pier. I don’t think he much liked being lonely but I tried to lead him to the island where Opal was trying to reach the sea horse and Lydia and Grub discussed the food and the wooden cart.

bandicam 2015-01-03 13-32-43-522 copyJust then, Opal’s hair turned a bright, silvery white. It seemed to me that Opal aged the most gracefully so far. Aidan’s hair has fallen out, Lydia looked very tired and even the tips of her ears were white now but Opal seemed, if you’ll allow me to break the fourth wall, like a simple recolor of her younger self. She’d even retained her size!

bandicam 2015-01-03 13-36-00-039 copyWhen I’d finally gotten David over, he and Grub looked out over the ocean together and I actually glimpsed a smile. I guess the poor guy was just lonesome. It got me thinking that maybe Bobby could use some company and with the help of some lifts and the air tram, I got him closer to the others.

bandicam 2015-01-03 12-34-04-517 copyAmidst all the chaos and illness in the last few entries, I hardly had any time for poor David who was now on his way to being a young man. The poor guy. Normally, I like to impart some handish wisdom in their first 20 minutes of life. I did find time to teach him about herbs and weeds but he seemed to know enough already. He learned to rest and eat on his own, so I wasn’t too worried about him.

I did need to hatch a lady friend, though.bandicam 2015-01-03 12-38-54-013 copybandicam 2015-01-03 12-39-52-719 copy

This is Cassy. She learned her words with the help of the books, and got to eat pretty quickly. She and David have already met so, with any luck, they’ll become friends and become a pair when they grow up. I already like the odds of the Horse Norn look becoming popular in my world. I gave the two a chance to get to know each other and took some time to get to know this world’s grendel, Grub.

bandicam 2015-01-03 12-47-00-444 copySo far, the big guy hasn’t left the island and he and Lydia have become fast friends. The two of them spend most of their time staring at the sea horse and playing with a ball I’ve brought them. To make life simpler and easier on the island-goers, I added Bliumea plants from Jessi’s Cobs. And for variety, I added Rodirea near the hooch. Lastly, I added Muppetboy’s Parsnip patch.

bandicam 2015-01-03 13-06-55-457 copyFood was looking very abundant this time around. Despite this, Opal still had trouble finding food for herself. The parsnips hadn’t grown yet so I decided to bring her some food in the shape of a garden carrot.

Soon, she was smiling again. I guess the game decided to give me a break after so many heart-attacks in a row. 😛

bandicam 2015-01-03 12-04-48-127 copyIt took some time but a lemon and some firm smacks on the butt later, Lydia was finally totally recovered. I don’t think she was pleased with me, but her improving health should have been reward enough, I think.

Now, Lydia was 9 hours old, with Aidan over 8, Opal over 6 and Bobby over 5. With this new medical crisis over, it felt like a good time to introduce some new blood.

Despite the two new eggs in the world, it should be noted that the eggs from before the “soft reset” take priority here.

bandicam 2015-01-03 12-07-10-010 copyMeet David. Till just a moment ago, his name was “1”.

He took off like a shot, running out of the house but I managed to chase after him with the Encyclopaedia Nornica and teach him all his words. The sad truth was that I was getting tired of teaching them all the old way and this was much quicker. I did have to change a few things, the hand would be called “Mama” and the “ugly” would be called a “grendel”.

bandicam 2015-01-03 12-18-10-856 copyAfter lessons were done, it was time to get the little guy fed. Then, as though I wasn’t stressed enough already, Lydia’s health dipped because she wasn’t eating and Opal became sick. I dumped a load of food by Lydia and the grendel at the island and tended to Opal, who ate a lemon right away, but was still not well. Unlike with Lydia, I checked to see what was making Opal sick. This time, it was Antigen 3 and though she continued to eat, the decline in her health was only slowed, not stopped.

I tried to deliver a feverfew to her to see if that would cause any change. Instead, she slept a while. Once her nap was over, she happily at the plant and I brought her some toys to entertain her while she was in quarantine. She ate well on her own and downed some honey and carrots. It seemed like she wanted to be a very cooperative patient. While she napped, I quickly checked on the others but I was very worried. Her health was still on the decline despite her excellent eating habits.

Below, David visited the temple and Opal had just pressed the lift to go down. I guess she wanted to see the new baby, being a mother of many herself.

bandicam 2015-01-03 12-24-41-194 copyIt was then I was worried that disaster would strike. Thankfully, Opal had just recovered from her illness. To celebrate, opal drank the alcohol on the piano. She finished her glass then went on to explore, like usual. I collected the empty glasses and placed them by the still, but I wasn’t about to spread the drinks all over Albia, hilarious though that might be.
