I readied our new hatchery egg and Lydia took an immense interest in it! It was still another 6 minutes before Gavin would turn 20 minutes old and I could hatch her, but I was still pretty excited. Nothing prepared me for what was about to happen, though. I was so excited myself that I couldn’t stop taking pictures! Gavin reached 25 minutes of age before I finally realized it was time to hatch the egg but look!

bandicam 2014-11-20 23-13-33-849I’d never seen Lydia smile so wide before! Smiling was pretty common for her son but seeing them smiling together was a real treat. They look so happy!

bandicam 2014-11-20 23-19-07-581Happy distraction aside, it was time to hatch that last egg. This time, a girl. I’ve decided to name her Opal. She doesn’t look especially excited in her picture there, but trust me. I gave her a honey pot and she immediately started eating. Soon, she was all smiles and she was so anxious to learn she practically pressed and learned all the computer words on her own!

bandicam 2014-11-20 23-25-31-917As if that wasn’t enough, she was anxious to look around and push everything, including the trumpet. She was so pleased with her playing that she flashed me another big smile.

I can already tell that I’m going to adore this little lady. She’s so easy to take care of!bandicam 2014-11-20 23-29-58-964She and Gavin finally met in the temple and were playing a game of tag. Soon there was kissing but Opal seemed most interested in the big helicopter toy and the raft than in poor Gavin. They did continue their game of tag below the house after a chance ride on the raft and since they were both safe and healthy, I took the opportunity to check on the other creatures. Everyone seemed to be doing just fine. Aidan was still on the island and Lydia was still under the temple. Perhaps they were a little lonely but otherwise, they were very healthy. In fact, things were so pleasant I even took the opportunity to teach “food” and “mama” to the grendel. How lovely!

bandicam 2014-11-20 22-44-35-924A bouncing baby – oh. Well, he might have a Ron norn head but I do like the colors he’s sporting! Beside that, he has his father’s arms! Because we have a new boy, though, I’ll be introducing a little girl soon.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, though, I needed to teach him his lessons! He learned his vocabulary very quickly and almost immediately tried the plants and weeds past the garden. Lessons quickly learned indeed!

I let him wander through the garden on his own and took a moment to make my rounds. Aidan was in the tree by the swamp, carrying a honey pot with him. When he emptied one, I took it back to the bees.

When I got there, I saw this!bandicam 2014-11-20 22-49-14-190How cute! Lydia and the grendel were becoming friends. Stinging buddies, to be more precise. As I tried to teach them that the bees were called “bad” they kept reaching up to touch them. Oh my.

Gavin smiles a lot more than his mother did at this age!bandicam 2014-11-20 22-53-46-407 His parents had to be around for Gerald’s death but this little one didn’t have so much to worry about. After a short time, I realized I hadn’t looked at his genes yet.

He has a few mutations that cause him not to turn around when they normally would. For example, bumping into a wall wouldn’t cause him to want to turn around. He also gets the Sex Drive boost when getting patted by other creatures. I’ve included all of the differences in this spoiler.

Now I only had to pick out an egg for next time. I wonder what’s in this last hatchery egg?

Today, we start with a sick norn, a dead norn and a healthy norn. When his life force dipped to just about 8%, Gerald passed away. He didn’t lead an easy life and he never got to spread his genes. Nevertheless, he will be missed. Lydia kept him company as he passed away.

bandicam 2014-11-20 21-21-05-637Speaking of Lydia, she was still sick with whatever infected her last time. Her health got as low as 71% again but she won over her infection. She lingered by Gerald for a little while before I allowed Aidan to visit with her again.

Her age crept up to 2 hours but she still followed Aidan as though he were her parent. I suppose she didn’t want to be alone after Gerald’s tragic death. I only hope the poor thing didn’t feel responsible.

bandicam 2014-11-20 21-34-31-003 copyAidan became an adult and I was suddenly hopeful for eggs again. I managed to get the two of them together by the submarine and Lydia was happy to kiss Aidan while he was asleep.

After he woke up, Aidan shot me the first very happy face I saw since starting this world. How cute! I hope they make healthy babies together. I cracked some coconuts for them after isolating them on the island and hoped for the best.

Suddenly, a kisspop! And Lydia was pregnant! I anxiously watched as the number representing her progress raised. Her life force decreased as the baby grew but I managed to get her into the garden where it was much easier to feed her. A carrot later and her health was up from 60 to 70% again.

bandicam 2014-11-20 21-47-24-819The wait felt like an eternity, but finally, this little red and yellow egg appeared. I can’t wait to meet the little one that will emerge. Whoever comes out of this egg will determine what gender the next egg I hatch will be, as well.

I led Lydia away from the house so that I could teach the baby some lessons and then I popped that little red and yellow egg into the incubator.

I added passageways to the world to make navigating a lot easier for my norns. I decided not to use the OceanBridges but otherwise, the house and falls areas are more permeable.

bandicam 2014-11-20 21-02-01-514Not long after, the Observation Kit showed a headstone next to Gerald’s name but he was still alive. Poor guy. With his life force fluttering around 23 and 24%, things were looking very grim, even though he was still very alive. As if that wasn’t enough, I had a small panic when I saw Aidan was sick on the Observation kit. Thankfully, he’d only sampled a little bit of Baobab and slept it off. Hopefully, he learned his lesson.

Soon, things were very quiet again and I thought about introducing a third egg. I’d much rather Lydia and Aidan have their first egg before I introduce any new genetics, but sadly, I was beginning to get a little bored. The last thing I wanted to do, though, was smother the poor things! If there’s anything I’ve learned from previous creatures I’d reared in this game is that they require constant attention for only about the first 20 minutes of their lives, when they need to be taught their vocabulary, what is ok to eat and how to rest and play. After that, they almost seem to get confused!

bandicam 2014-11-20 21-11-36-003It wasn’t long before Gerald was an adult. He finally grew up and I led Lydia from the temple all the way to him. They kissed a bit but there was no luck getting an egg. Suddenly, Lydia was sick and I had to lure Aidan away.

With her health sitting at 61% I had to act fast. It plummeted from what was a very healthy 77%. I convinced her to eat a lot of food and before long, her health was at a comforting 77% again. Gerald also managed to get sick and his health was at a pitiable 9%. Poor guy. What a hard life he’s had.

Before I got her health up to those numbers, however, I trapped Aidan up by the computer and he and Lydia thought it would be cute to play with the lifts. I kept panicking every time Lydia sneezed near Aidan.

bandicam 2014-11-20 21-16-32-180Thankfully, the bacteria involved this time must have been very minor but I dreaded what could come.
