Darn It, Lydia!

Happy Birthday to me! 26 years old now. 😛

I think I’ll celebrate with ramen and video games.

bandicam 2015-01-08 14-40-35-029 copyNaturally, Lydia picked the most rational and responsible way to celebrate her good health – getting pregnant.

Turns out getting sick wasn’t enough, now she had the stress of making a new baby to sap her strength.

At least her health wasn’t declining quite the way it does when she’s sick, so I suppose that’s a consolation.

Her pregnancy proceeded as normal but I was starting to feel bad for Aidan, staying by the tree all by himself. I led him to the others and he and a trio of other norns left the island with him by taking the boat back to the tree. Lydia, Bobby and David seemed thrilled to see him! There was a lot of kissing, at least.

As they took the boat (again) to the island, Lydia prepared to lay her next egg and I took the peace as an opportunity to feed Opal. She was always obedient at feeding time but she rarely took the initiative to feed herself.

bandicam 2015-01-08 14-55-39-238 copyFinally, with everyone in relatively good health (Lydia still sat at a precarious 41%) I figured it might be a good time to introduce another baby. This little guy is Danny, one of the eggs saved from before the “soft reset”.

I love seeing happy faces on babies. He smiled for a while, too! Carrots and toys quickly became his favorite thing and he didn’t spend too much time out of the house.

I spent some time fighting with Lydia to get her to eat some food but I thought it might be time to move on. Her health was down to 30% but she might have been at the end of her rope. Perhaps she’d prefer to go down on an empty stomach?

bandicam 2015-01-08 15-06-38-886 copyAidan meanwhile, slapped Cassy and Opal in the lowest level of the island and was chased off when the girls decided to give him a taste of his own medicine. He’d lost his game in his old age. Bobby spent his time hanging out with a sea horse instead. Can’t say I blame him with all that commotion downstairs.

Finally, when I wasn’t looking, Lydia ate again and her health started to slwoly rise. Perhaps she had more life in her than I first thought?

Huddled Together

Olga quickly became pregnant again with one of Adelphos’ babies. It was clear that Adelphos was going to be one of the most successful fathers in the run, especially given his head-start.

bandicam 2015-01-04 23-00-53-918 copyYoung Drake was more interested in finding neat places to nap. He visited every place reachable by an Offline Portal and before long, he found his way back to the Meso, where he ate carrots and rested.

Synergy and Adelphos were kisspopping above, at the top level of the Meso. Olga and Chang tried to join the pair but perhaps Olga had too recently become pregnant and was still recovering from laying her egg.

Drake managed to get away from the others again and this time, when he’d traveled, he complained of loneliness. I tried to encourage him to push the portal but we didn’t get back to the Meso. I decided to see if he could make his way back on his own, since my interference didn’t seem to be helping.

Eventually, he did and just as he did, Synergy became pregnant again. This time, Chang was the father! It’s good to see the gene pool getting some diversity already. Next, before Synergy had the opportunity to lay her own egg, Olga was pregnant with another of Chang’s.

Next, Andromeda was brought in. Thank goodness it’s a girl!bandicam 2015-01-04 23-11-26-977 copy I was starting to worry that we’d only have boys for a while then only Synergy and Olga would get to breed til the end. Speaking of, Synergy became pregnant with Adelphos again.

Olga wasn’t especially kind to the new lady but a quick smack on the butt and “push norn” was enough to encourage her to play nice. Soon enough, though, Olga played nice with Adelphos and another egg was on the way. Goodness! These girls are in a rush to get all their genes well established for the second Generation. When Synergy got pregnant again, I opted to take the honorable way out and stop reporting on pregnancies here.

bandicam 2015-01-04 23-42-29-095 copyAbout four more eggs later, it was finally time to introduce the next norn. Meet Daedalus, another male, and quite a handsome one at that!

While he got acquainted with some of the others, I decided to make my rounds and found Andromeda exploring the medical bay and Drake eating apples in the Norn Terrarium. I was a little puzzled to see just him in there, especially given how hospitable that particular area was. Then again, Chang, Adelphos, Spike, Olga and Synergy were all probably perfectly content to eat Bouncing Plums and mingle with each other. Maybe, with any luck, they’d start to spread out a little?

Science Kit GET!

bandicam 2015-01-07 21-07-18-723 copyI was so proud of Clarise for getting this kit for me but, not long after, she nearly did wall-bonk herself into a coma. Ahhh…. Oh well.

I lead Jonathan downstairs to learn more expressive words and soon enough, he learned everything that the machines could teach him. Next thing I knew, Jonathan was now 23 minutes old and was starting to shape up into a obedient little norn.

bandicam 2015-01-07 21-39-43-372 copyAfter a while, I brought Clarise back down to Jonathan and since becoming a Child, Clarise suddenly became very curious and wanted to put everything in her mouth – toys especially.

bandicam 2015-01-07 21-45-12-703 copyEventually, and I think it was inevitable, the two got into an exhausting slapping fight. After they finally separated, they both looked dead tired. Once they crossed paths again, Jonathan gave Clarise a kiss and they continued to wander the level below the Incubator without rest.

It took some time, but they each spent some time resting. Jonathan didn’t get a chance to fall asleep til much later, but there was some progress made, I think.

bandicam 2015-01-07 21-52-25-415 copyOnce Clarise was an hour old and Jonathan was 40 minutes old, I decided to add a third Norn. I opted for another female. I’ve named her Jenny. She had a bit of a temper for some reason – her angry face seemed to appear for no reason. Anyway, she was taught by the two computers by the incubator and with the help of a nearby Doozer, I was able to teach her a little more vocabulary.

As the three wandered around, trying to eat everything, I started to wonder what I could do about their efforts. Watching them try to stuff tennis balls in their mouth was entertaining and charming at first, but their sad, tired faces were starting to make me upset.

Seems Like Somebody is Always Sick

bandicam 2015-01-08 14-00-10-116 copyGood ol’ Aidan. Every time I see him, I’m just glad he’s up and moving around again. There were a few hours of his life where he’d hardly moved due to some kind of world-glitch but now he’s better.

He’s also quite old, at 9 and a half hours old. Lydia is even older, though.

Of course, the old girl wasn’t about to give me a break.

bandicam 2015-01-08 14-21-29-750 copyI begged her to eat, as usual, and did my best to keep the other creatures away from her. She managed to eat a Parsnip and her health went up for a short while, but it got as low as 36% before she finally decided to eat. This game can be very nerve wracking. She spun helplessly into the glass every time she coughed.

As I tended to Lydia, Opal, despite her old age, managed to get pregnant again. This meant I had two norns I had to keep healthy and well fed. Lucky for me, Opal was at least cooperative when it came to feeding.

Lydia managed to eat more off-screen and as her body fought Antigen 4 she slept. When her body had won that battle, I was finally free to let Opal and David visit her.

bandicam 2015-01-08 14-37-49-443 copyOnce Lydia started her recovery and Opal laid her egg, it was time to make my rounds, which was very simple. Aidan was picking carrots in the swamp by the tree and all the other norns were on the island.

Hopefully, nobody on the island would get sick. Getting everyone else sick would be an absolute tragedy.
