After following Jessica’s tutorial to improve the Multiple Grendel Button, I decided to pay a visit to Albia and check on my Norns. The 7 of them were very spread out in age and I was starting to think I should keep better track of family lines and separate the generations like I used to.

As I worked out some of the details, the three older boys, Danny, David and Perry all napped and made their way to the island to enjoy the company and their golden years. I almost failed to notice that Mallory got sick and, to my dismay, she was still with Hoss, the new male.

The nasty this time seemed to be Antigen 2 and thankfully, it was the only real problem. Well. Besides the pair insisting on each other’s company. Even as I struggled to separate them with the lift, they always managed to walk in just as the lift would start to move. Feeding a C1 norn was always a challenge, but with another norn it almost seemed impossible. This could be a problem for the both of them. At least they had sleep toxin in their systems which meant that they would at least hold still.

Once they were both fed and starting to recover, I noticed something awful about Mallory. While the illness wasn’t affecting her as badly as it was Hoss, her body wasn’t producing any antibodies to fight Antigen 2!

A peek into DDNA-Analyzer showed that her immune response to Antigen 2 didn’t activate until life-stage 16. This is a life stage that the game doesn’t actually have and, despite the gene being corrected by the Genetics Kit, the fix didn’t seem to be automatically applied by the game. Oh dear. This meant that Mallory could be a real Typhoid Mallory if left in the game. Unfortunately, this meant removing her from the group, but I will be making her available for download.

I tried to get him to eat and as his health dipped to a stressful 41%, he spun wildly, unable to eat his food. Those darned spinning sneezes. Thankfully, he managed to put away 2 carrots before falling asleep again. As his body continued to produce more and more antibodies, I finally started to relax and started my planning for this group.

2 Thoughts on “Typhoid Mallory

  1. Oh dear! That really is an unfortunate mutation that Mallory got stuck with. Reminds me of a few Norns I’ve had who would have some dire consequences with one antigen or another. Figures that it just had to be antigen 2 to hit your world! The illnesses in Creatures 1 really do fascinate me, though. I’m thinking of doing a more in-depth study on them at some point, and I’m sure that I’ll be interested in Mallory when she’s available for download! Here’s hoping that Hoss continues to wolf down the carrots so he can get well!
